Would you like to l see how you can identify galaxies through Galaxy Zoo, fold proteins through Foldit, submit wildlife sightings through Bowerbird or iNaturalist, and go on nature-spotting quests through Questagame.
Then join this special one hour interactive session!
Presenter – Philip Roetman
Philip is the research leader of the Discovery Circle initiative. As a researcher, Philip is particularly interested in citizen science – actively involving the wider community research projects. Before the Discovery Circle, Philip worked with Professor Chris Daniels on citizen science projects including Operation Possum and the Great Koala Count. Through the Discovery Circle he is now coordinating BioBlitzes and citizen science projects like Cat Tracker
Philip will introduce the students to citizen science, describing how we can all make valuable contributions to scientific research. Students will see how they can identify galaxies through Galaxy Zoo, fold proteins through Foldit, submit wildlife sightings through Bowerbird or iNaturalist, and go on nature-spotting quests through Questagame. The session will be interactive, with a short walk to find some wildlife on the school grounds.
